Methodology
See how Alberta Wellness sources listing data, refreshes business details, decides which guides stay indexable, and handles corrections for spas and massage clinics in Calgary and Edmonton.
Data sources
- OpenStreetMap for baseline business coverage and open attribution.
- Google Places API for enriched details (hours, ratings, review counts, and photos).
Refresh cadence and freshness
We refresh listings periodically. The directory may lag behind real-world changes, so always confirm hours, services, and booking details on the business’s official website or Google Maps.
Ranking for “Top picks”
Top picks are sorted using a weighted score that combines Google rating and review volume. This helps avoid over-weighting businesses with a small number of reviews.
Indexing policy for guides
Not every guide is kept indexable. We prefer strong evergreen guides with clear local intent and reduce indexation for repetitive, weak, or overly generic content so the best pages receive the clearest crawl and maintenance focus.
The visible author for guides is the Alberta Wellness Editorial Team.
Corrections and business claims
Businesses and users can report corrections through the site. Where confidence is lower, the directory should be treated as a starting point for comparison rather than a final source of truth.
